As part of our diversification strategy, we are now seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team. Ideally, we are looking for applications from people who have experience in Wastewater Treatment Plants, Desalination Plants, Oil & Gas, and Pipelines projects. 

This role will initially work within the pre-contracts space, working on tenders and bids with an already established team both in Sydney and Melbourne.  When we are successfully awarded a project, this position will be deployed to Site to contribute to the delivery of the job. This is a rare opportunity to gain experience in the pre-contracts stage and then actually deliver the project from end to end.

Our teams are multi-skilled, working with us, you’ll be given the opportunity to work on a range of projects and disciplines including water, civil engineering, and utilities all the while being fully supported to reach your goals. About you:

  • Understand the purpose of the design brief, be able to proficiently interpret it, and ensure its requirements are met by the design deliverables.
  • Prepare maintain and drive a design program, procurement, and management of all design consultants.
  • Reviews consultant’s budgets and contracts and monitors and reports changes to remain within budget.
  • Ensuring that the content of design packages is appropriate for approval processes and suitable for construction use.
  • Experience in the kick-off pre-contracts stage is favoured but not essential.
  • Proven multi-disciplined experience within the construction industry.

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil), Degree in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent Civil Engineering qualification.
  • Registration as a Chartered Professional Engineer status (CPEng) is advantageous.
  • Prior practical construction site experience is essential.
  • Previous history of working on a range of Treatment plant or Water Treatment plant projects essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current C-Class Driver’s License.
