We are a successful civil contracting business who has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

There has never been a better time to join our team – with several project wins on the horizon, including a major project with packages to be awarded in early 2025, you'll have the chance to be part of exciting new ventures and contribute to shaping the future of infrastructure in Melbourne.

Join a landmark infrastructure project as a Surveyor, who’s set to shape the future of Melbourne's transport network. This is an opportunity to be part of a team delivering critical civil works that will improve connectivity and create lasting benefits for the community. You'll be working in a collaborative environment alongside industry-leading experts, leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovative methodologies.

About the role:

  • Implement, monitor, and improve survey instructions while contributing to project planning, resource management, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Conduct surveys to ensure accurate location and quality of project developments, including set-out of earthworks, structures, and utilities.
  • Gather, process, and prepare field data for designers, engineers, and Quality teams, ensuring timely submission of reports and compliance with project requirements.
  • Design and maintain spatial control networks, calibrate and test survey equipment, and create digital models for machine control and GNSS systems.
  • Liaise with contractors, clients, and engineers to address design or construction issues while adhering to policies, quality standards, and industry innovations.

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum 3-year degree in a spatial science field (preferably surveying, GIS, or design engineering) and eligibility for registration with the relevant state Board of Surveyors or SSSI’s ESP-AP registration.
  • Proven experience in a range of surveying disciplines, with a strong background in civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency in various computing programs and software platforms, along with the ability to create and maintain data systems for design changes, ‘as built’ records, and calibration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current C-Class Driver’s licence.

We have a range of additional benefits available for our employees:

  • Health & Wellbeing – discounted health insurance, seasonal vaccinations, wellness discounts, fertility benefit and employee assistance program (EAP).
  • Time for life / Work life balance – birthday leave, purchased leave program, paid parental leave and flexible work arrangements.
  • Financial wellbeing – competitive remuneration, annual performance bonuses, salary continuance insurance and employee share program.
  • Career development – training, mentoring programs, and leadership development program.

Many of our projects are located in regional areas, therefore all applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence and have their own transport.

Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans.
