Clyde Road Upgrade is a high-impact infrastructure project transforming a key arterial route over the Princes (Monash) Freeway. Spanning 1.2 km, the upgrade includes widening Clyde Road to three lanes each way and a full interchange overhaul to improve access to hospitals, Berwick Station, and the growing Health and Education Precinct. Works include new pavement construction, drainage upgrades, flood mitigation, major intersection works, and service relocations. A major structural component is the widening of the freeway bridge, involving piling, structural concrete, and steel beam installation, a challenging scope ideal for engineers ready to get hands-on with complex civil and structural works.
This role is perfect for a civil Site Engineer with over 5 years of practical project delivery experience, particularly in heavy structural works. We're looking for someone who’s confident working on-site, enjoys being hands-on, and brings strong technical capability to complex infrastructure challenges. If you’ve worked on bridge construction, piling, large-scale concrete, or steel structures, including steel beam fit-outs, this project offers the chance to take real ownership and contribute meaningfully to key structural elements. This isn’t an entry-level position, it’s suited to someone who can think creatively, solve problems on the spot, and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
About the role:
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ responsibilities and escalate any safety, quality, or risk concerns impacting project delivery.
- Monitor and manage construction quality and progress, ensuring works meet specifications, method statements, and ITPs.
- Plan, track, and report on productivity and program performance, including daily outputs and short-term schedules.
- Manage field teams while maintaining technical competency through regular updates in the Learning Management System and staying current with legislation and industry standards.
- Verify subcontractor performance and claims, ensuring accuracy of variations and alignment with contractual terms.
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a civil engineering or construction environment, on-site.
- Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Suite, including Excel. 4.
- Demonstrated ability to produce a critical path network with up to 100 activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Current C-Class Driver’s Licence.
We have a range of additional benefits available for our employees:
- Health & Wellbeing – discounted health insurance, seasonal vaccinations, wellness discounts, fertility benefit and employee assistance program (EAP).
- Time for life / Work life balance – birthday leave, purchased leave program, paid parental leave and flexible work arrangements.
- Financial wellbeing – competitive remuneration, annual performance bonuses, salary continuance insurance and employee share program.
- Career development – training, mentoring programs, and leadership development program.
