We are seeking an experienced and proactive Community and Stakeholder Manager to be the voice of the Heatherbrae project, ensuring strong community connections and stakeholder engagement throughout the construction journey.

As part of our delivery team, you'll lead all community and stakeholder engagement activities, playing a key role in maintaining Seymour Whyte’s reputation as a trusted infrastructure partner.

This is a site-based role located at Heatherbrae, NSW. Some flexibility may be available depending on project needs, but regular on-site presence is essential to build and maintain community relationships.

About the Project:

The 15km M1 Pacific Motorway extension will enhance transport in the Hunter region and improve travel between Sydney and Brisbane. Seymour Whyte will deliver a 5km northern Heatherbrae bypass from Tomago to Raymond Terrace, opening in mid-2028. This includes dual carriageways, a new interchange at Raymond Terrace, realignment of Masonite Road, and bridges over Windeyers Creek and at Masonite Road and Raymond Terrace.

Seymour Whyte is seeking an experienced and proactive Community and Stakeholder Manager to serve as the voice of the Heatherbrae project, ensuring strong community connections and effective stakeholder engagement throughout the construction journey.

As part of our delivery team, you'll lead all community and stakeholder engagement activities, playing a key role in maintaining Seymour Whyte’s reputation as a trusted infrastructure partner.

 

About the role:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the project and the community, managing stakeholder relationships and addressing concerns to protect and enhance project reputation.
  • Develop and implement communication and engagement strategies to build community support and minimise opposition in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and mentor the Community Relations Team, overseeing the planning and delivery of campaigns, public notifications, community events, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of communication materials, including newsletters, traffic alerts, social media content, project updates, and correspondence.
  • Manage stakeholder enquiries and complaints, maintain accurate database records, and contribute to project reporting, evaluation, and community-facing activities, including meetings and site tours.

About you:

  • At least five years’ experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, or public relations on major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership, team mentoring, and communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Confidence managing complex stakeholder issues and engaging with councils, clients, media, and the public.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of community engagement requirements and tools, including CRM systems, legislative frameworks, and software.
