Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre
Seymour Whyte, in a Joint Venture with Vinci Grande Projects and Beca, have been selected by ICON water to embark on the Design and Construct upgrade of the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWQCC), the ACT’s primary wastewater treatment facility and the largest of its kind in inland Australia. This 4-year project will modernise the plant’s solids handling system while preparing for future growth and potential updates to air emission standards. Located near central Canberra, the project will enhance and support the region’s critical infrastructure.

We’re looking for a skilled Site Engineer to coordinate on-site construction activities and keep projects running safely, efficiently, and to specification. You’ll manage work teams, monitor progress, interpret designs, and support the delivery of construction programmes, while assisting with cost tracking, reporting, and quality control.

How you’ll make an impact:
- Undertake all HSEQ responsibilities as identified for your role in the Project’s Management Plans and associated documents.
- As required, escalate potential and actual risks that may impact the safe, timely and cost-efficient delivery of activities under management.
- Manage quality production defined by method statements and ITP’s.
- Monitor construction progress to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
- Establish, measure and report daily productivities for assigned activities.
- Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by Project Manager.
- Develop, monitor, and report on programmes for elements of work as required by the Project Manager.
- Manage work teams in the field.
- Verify subcontractors’ claims and variations.
Your key qualities:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or its equivalent.
- Previous experience working in civil engineering or construction environment, preferably on-site.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to produce a critical path network with up to 100 activities.
- Ability to prepare, monitor and update short-term production bar charts.
- Working knowledge of safety legislation, Australian Standards and industry codes.
- Understanding of specific project scope of works and contractual procedures for managing change.
- Understanding of distribution of contractual responsibilities between Client, Contractor, Subcontractor and Supplier.
