We are seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to work across our Parramatta CreekConnect head office and our Austral site office. This is a hands on role where you will be out on site and in the detail, guiding contractors to meet client expectations and regulatory obligations without losing momentum on delivery. You will lead independent inspections and audits, identifying risks early and driving practical close out actions across heritage, biodiversity, contamination, pollution prevention and environmental monitoring. You will be the go to for reviewing permits, CEMPs and EWMS, and for producing accurate reports that stand up to scrutiny. Be part of a large-scale, long-term joint venture between Seymour Whyte and Jacobs, awarded by Sydney Water as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) project. As the region expands, so does the need for sustainable and resilient water solutions. The Upper South Creek Network will feature new wastewater pumping stations and gravity carriers, with the first work stage beginning before the year's end. The project also emphasises safety, digital engineering, and compliance with the latest standards, ensuring it meets future needs effectively.

About the Role:
- Client-side management of delivery contractors: Requires a combination of technical environmental knowledge and soft skills to build and maintain relationships.
- Technical Environmental Knowledge: Must have a solid understanding of how to implement environmental legal requirements relating to Aboriginal heritage, biodiversity, soil and groundwater contamination, pollution prevention, water quality, air quality and noise.
- Auditing and Inspections: Work independently to perform field inspections to assess compliance of Delivery Contractors.
- Ensuring Compliance: Monitoring and ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and standards.
- Risk Management: Identifying and assessing environmental risks associated with projects and operations.
- Reporting: Preparing environmental compliance reports and documentation
- Reviewing Contractors Environmental Documentation: review and provide comments back to contractors in order to meet Client requirements and expectations. Documents include permits (i.e. water discharge, out of hours, etc.), Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), and Environmental Work Method Statements (EWMS).
- Incident Investigations: support Delivery Contractors with environmental incident investigations and notifications
About you:
- Relevant Degree: Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental management, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in an environmental role, must be within the construction industry, and/or water/wastewater industry
- Experience on Sydney Water projects would be advantageous.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of site environmental management, legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Project Management: Experience in managing the compliance of multiple construction contractors.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to various stakeholders.
- Current C-Class Driver’s Licence

Many of our projects are not accessible via public transport and require travel between and within active construction sites. As a result, a current Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive on site are essential.
