Seymour Whyte is seeking a Project Engineer to support construction delivery on the M5 project, with a strong focus on managing and coordinating major earthworks packages.

The role is responsible for overseeing on‑site engineering activities, monitoring daily progress, managing subcontractors, supporting cost and program performance, and ensuring all earthworks and associated civil works meet design, safety and quality requirements. This position plays a key role in driving technical leadership and ensuring efficient, compliant and high‑standard delivery across the M5 project.

M5 Westbound Upgrade Project:

Seymour Whyte has been awarded the design and construct contract by Transport for NSW to deliver the M5 Westbound Upgrade in Moorebank, Sydney. Valued between $250M–$300M and running from 2025 to 2028, this major transport infrastructure project will enhance one of south-west Sydney’s key arterial routes, supporting economic and residential growth while improving connectivity across the region.

The project will remove a critical traffic weave between Moorebank Avenue and the Hume Highway, reducing congestion and improving network reliability. Key works include a new three-lane bridge over the Georges River and adjacent rail lines, enhanced freight access to the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal, and new pedestrian and cyclist links, improving access to the Liverpool CBD and delivering safer, more efficient travel for all road users.

About Seymour Whyte:

We are a successful civil contracting business that has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

  • Oversee subcontractor performance, allocate work and review outputs for quality and accuracy
  • Prepare and review documentation including SWMS, ITPs, status reports and constructability inputs
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings, toolbox talks and incident reviews

About you:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience delivering civil infrastructure projects, including earthworks
  • Strong understanding of WHS, environmental requirements, SWMS, ITPs and quality systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage costs, forecasts, subcontractors and contractual processes

  • Career development – training, mentoring programs, and leadership development program.

Many of our projects are not accessible via public transport and require travel between and within active construction sites. As a result, a current Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive on site are essential.
