Seymour Whyte are seeking a Cost Controller to join the Creek Connect project, based at our site office in Austral. This role will support the project by ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting and reporting across all stages of delivery.
In this position, you will manage monthly cost reports, maintain reliable financial data and monitor project expenditure to ensure budgets remain on track. You’ll work closely with commercial, design and site teams to support cost‑efficient outcomes, oversee the change control process, and track the financial impact of variations. The role also involves identifying potential risks or savings, analysing cost trends and providing insights that contribute to effective decision‑making across the project.

Be part of a large-scale, long-term joint venture between Seymour Whyte and Jacobs, awarded by Sydney Water as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) project. As the region expands, so does the need for sustainable and resilient water solutions. The Upper South Creek Network will feature new wastewater pumping stations and gravity carriers, with the first work stage beginning before the year's end. About the Role:
- Monitor project expenditure, maintain accurate financial data and support monthly forecasting
- Prepare and manage monthly cost reports while ensuring accurate cost‑to‑complete projections
- Work closely with commercial, design and site teams to keep budgets aligned with project objectives
- Oversee the change control process including documentation, approvals and financial tracking
- Analyse cost trends, identify risks or savings opportunities and provide insights for decision‑making
- Support cost planning during design phases to ensure cost‑efficient and budget‑aligned outcomes
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, engineering or a related field
- Strong experience in cost control, budgeting, forecasting and project financial reporting (construction experience advantageous)
- High attention to detail with the ability to analyse cost trends and identify risks or savings
- Confident working with commercial, design and site teams in a fast‑paced project environment
- Strong understanding of change control processes and the financial impact of variations
- Proficient with cost management systems and comfortable managing large volumes of financial data
