We are seeking a Community Engagement Advisor to join the Creek Connect team and contribute to the delivery of Sydney Water’s Upper South Creek Networks Program, a major infrastructure initiative supporting growth across Western Sydney.

In this role, you will assist in leading community and stakeholder engagement across multiple projects—developing engagement plans, delivering clear communications, managing risks and complaints, and working closely with contractors to ensure all interactions are compliant, consistent, and support smooth project delivery.

CreekConnect – Supporting Western Sydney’s Growth!

Be part of a large-scale, long-term joint venture between Seymour Whyte and Jacobs, awarded by Sydney Water as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) project. As the region expands, so does the need for sustainable and resilient water solutions. The Upper South Creek Network will feature new wastewater pumping stations and gravity carriers, with the first work stage beginning before the year's end. The project also emphasises safety, digital engineering, and compliance with the latest standards, ensuring it meets future needs effectively.

About Seymour Whyte:

We are a successful civil contracting business that has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

As a progressive, leading civil engineering firm built on the strong foundations of our unique history, we engage, enable and empower our people to be better. With you, we are altogether stronger, in building the future we want.

About the Role:

  • Develop and deliver community and stakeholder engagement plans, ensuring compliance with required protocols and standards
  • Identify and manage community and stakeholder risks, working with internal teams and contractors to minimise impacts
  • Prepare and distribute clear, high-quality communication materials such as letters, emails, and newsletters
  • Engage directly with community members, stakeholders, and property owners through meetings, site visits, and outreach activities
  • Manage enquiries and complaints, including tracking, reporting, and resolving issues in line with procedures
  • Support reporting, engagement activities, and continuous improvement to maintain strong relationships and protect organisational reputation

About you:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in community and stakeholder engagement, with knowledge of or training in IAP2 principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; confident engaging diverse stakeholders and community members
  • Experience in community or stakeholder engagement, ideally within infrastructure, government, or project environments
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Skilled in handling sensitive issues, complaints, and conflict with professionalism and sound judgement
  • Proactive team player who collaborates effectively and works independently when required

Many of our projects are not accessible via public transport and require travel between and within active construction sites. As a result, a current Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive on site are essential.

Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans. Our commitment to an equitable construction industry extends to an inclusive culture that embraces our differences and gives everyone the opportunity to grow and be equally valued. We're unified in our direction toward having a workplace that is balanced and fair for all.
